About the trek

Gulabi Kanta rises above Hanuman Chatti on the road to Yamunotri. Far fewer trekkers come here than to Kedarkantha, so the forests, meadows and campsites stay quiet.

The trail climbs past the Garhwali village of Nishni through oak and rhododendron forest to high meadows, and the summit looks straight at Bandarpunch, Swargarohini and Kala Nag.

Trek questions

How is Gulabi Kanta different from Kedarkantha?

The height is similar, but Gulabi Kanta is much quieter, and its summit faces the Bandarpunch range up close.

Can we do it in winter?

Yes, with snow from about January to March. The summit day is then longer and needs good winter gear.
