Trek Overview
Known as the "Mini Switzerland of India", Chopta is a slice of paradise tucked away in the Garhwal Himalayas. This beautiful 2 Nights and 3 Days weekend trek is a perfect blend of spirituality, adventure, and breathtaking nature.
The trail takes you through lush green meadows (bugyals) and dense rhododendron forests up to Tungnath, the highest of the Panch Kedar temples. From there, a short but steep hike takes you to the Chandrashila Summit (Moon Rock). Standing at 13,100 feet, you will be rewarded with an uninterrupted 360-degree view of Himalayan giants like Mt. Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Chaukhamba.

Detailed Itinerary
Rishikesh to Chopta
Drive: 200 KM | Time: 6-7 Hrs | Alt: 8,790 Ft
Early morning pickup from Rishikesh. We drive alongside the holy Ganga and Alaknanda rivers, passing through Devprayag and Rudraprayag. Arrive at the beautiful campsite in Chopta by evening. Enjoy evening tea, dinner, and a peaceful overnight stay in Swiss tents.
Chopta - Tungnath - Chandrashila - Chopta
Trek: 10 KM | Time: 6-7 Hrs | Alt: 13,100 Ft
Start trekking early morning. Walk through paved trails and rhododendron forests to reach Tungnath Temple (highest Shiva shrine). Seek blessings and continue the steep 1.5 KM hike to Chandrashila peak. Witness a breathtaking sunrise. Safely descend back to Chopta for the night.
Chopta to Rishikesh (Departure)
Drive: 200 KM | Time: 6-7 Hrs
Wake up to a beautiful Himalayan morning. After a heavy breakfast, pack your bags and board the vehicle back to Rishikesh. You will be dropped off at Rishikesh by evening. The short but sweet weekend adventure ends here.

Trek FAQ's
Is this trek safe for beginners?
Yes, absolutely! The trail till Tungnath is mostly paved. The final climb to Chandrashila is slightly steep but manageable with a steady pace.
Network & ATM Availability?
Jio and Airtel work decently till Chopta. Please withdraw cash in Rishikesh or Ukhimath as there are no ATMs in Chopta.
Reporting Time at Rishikesh?
We usually start our journey from Rishikesh by 6:00 AM to avoid traffic and reach Chopta before sunset.
